Ekiti students applaud Fayose on restoration of electricity supply
Students in Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti have expressed their appreciation to the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose on the restoration of electricity supply to Iworoko-Ekiti, where majority of the student reside.
The town had been without power supply for nine months owing to
non-payment of electricity bills to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) by residents.
Restoration of power supply to the town was sequel to the meeting
Governor Fayose held with the student leaders last Wednesday, where he promised to resolve the power supply problems within one week.
Reacting, the EKSU Students Union Government (SUG) in a statement
signed by President, Oladimeji Bayo; General Secretary, Okunoye
Ayobami; and Publicity Secretary, Daniel Stephen described the
governor as students’ friend, promise keeper and a very passionate
father.
In his words, “all students of the Ekiti State University appreciate the students’ friend, the promise keeper and a very passionate father, the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose whose intervention has brought sanity back to our students’
area. We the students of Ekiti State University are so grateful and we want to from the depth of our hearts pour out our heartfelt gratitude. We appreciate the Ekiti State Government for this important intervention and audience given to us as we expect the fulfilment of other promises made to our students by Governor Ayodele Fayose as we rely solely on the fact that he will always keep his words,” the SUG said.
Speaking also, the deputy Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Olusegun Famuyibo commended Governor Fayose, saying; “It is imperative to note that the Ekiti Students Stakeholders Forum, paying the Governor an advocacy visit appealed to him to help restore electricity to the students’ area, which has been a problem for up to nine months.”
Famuyibo maintained that,“our greatest surprise is that the Governor promised the student leaders that electricity will be restored in one week, but the Governor has shown his capacity by restoring it in just four days.”
In his reaction, Ekiti State Chairman of NANS Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Suraj Opeyemi Musa said; “On behalf of the entire students in Ekiti State tertiary institutions, mostly EKSU, I appreciate Governor Fayose and his Deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola on the restoration of the Electricity to the Campus Community.
He said the restoration of the electricity was due to the promise Governor Fayose made in a meeting of student’s leaders in the State on Wednesday, October 7, 2015.
In a comment on her Facebook Page, Vice President, EKSU SUG, Ogunleye
Ola Oluwasunmisola wrote; “Kudos to the promise keeper, the architect
of modern Ekiti.
I, Olastella on behalf of Eksuites want to appreciate the governor for the promise brought to reality. On this note I will like to remind the governor that what is worth doing is worth doing well. We will be grateful the more if more transformers can be brought and installed in our residential area, if the stolen feeders and wires can be replaced and if the light can be made available to the nooks and crannies of our residential areas. I must say more power to your elbow, the Bashorun of Ekiti, Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose.”
