According to the chief operating officer of Air Peace, Mrs Oluwatoyin Olajide, the cabin attendant on the flight observed that the passenger collapsed ten minutes into the flight after taking off from the Lagos Airport.
She said the pilot in command of the flight made an emergency call to the airport authority to provide an ambulance to revive the passenger on landing in Abuja.
She said the crew and the medical personnel on board were able to revive the passenger by applying first aid and oxygen to stabilize the passenger.
The chief operating officer said after the passenger regained consciousness, he admitted to the medical personnel that he has not taken food for two days .
The passenger, she said declined to take any food .
She said the rescue of the passenger is enough evidence that Air Peace is committed to safety as the airline has the the minimum safety and evacuation equipment before any aircraft aircraft in its fleet is released by its maintenance engineers : BCT Aviation of the United Kingdom.
She said when the aircraft landed the ambulance sent by the airport authority did not have oxygen , but the airline had to volunteer two bottles of oxygen to stabilize the passenger before he was moved to a medical facility .
Olajide said :” Today , about 1.00 pm a male passenger collapsed aboard our flight 140 from Lagos to Abuja .
When the crew observed his condition, the pilot made announcement for volunteer medical personnel on board, to revive the passenger.
After reviving him, the passenger said he has not eaten for two days. He declined to take any food .
The pilot then called the airport authority to provide ambulance to stabilize him , but on arrival the ambulance did not have oxygen.
Air Peace had to volunteer two oxygen bottles to assist in helping the passenger to a medical facility.
This incident is demonstration of the fact than Air Peace is committed to safety by having the required minimum equipment list on board .
Our aircraft maintenance engineers BCT Aviation will not release any aircraft until the required equipment are on board .”
