EFCC quizzes top management of NAMA
Operatives of the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC Wednesday stormed the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) headquarters in Lagos and quizzed some the agency’s top management staff.
Nigerian Pilot Newspaper learnt that the operatives, who came in a bus, first went to the headquarters of the agency before going to the accounts and procurement departments of the agency at the annex, a stone’s throw from the headquarters.
Although the reason for the visit could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the visit was a fallout of series of petitions related to financial impropriety leveled against NAMA management by staff and aviation union.
According to a source, the EFCC staff came around 11.55am and subsequently interrogated some top NAMA officials who were about to hold a meeting with human resources department staff.
“It is true that EFCC people came here today (Friday). They first came to the headquarters before going to the annex. I am trying to get to the root of the matter,” he said.
Though he did not name the persons interrogated by EFCC personnel, he said the anti-graft agency was seeking explanation to some contracts awarded to some companies without due process.
It would also be recalled that pensioners of the agency, had, last year, accused NAMA of diverting their pension and gratuity funds totalling N7 billion in the last three years.
They alleged that the agency had failed to remit the said sum to their pension funds administrator since 2013.
