’Nigeria market offers many opportunities for building materials companies’
ICEX of Spain Trade and Investment – build and design sector manager, Carolina Fernández Infante has said that Nigeria is a huge market which offers many opportunities for building materials companies.
Speaking at the ongoing AfricaBuild Lagos exhibition at the Landmark Event Cenre Lagos, Fernández Infante disclosed that the exhibition was their first national participation as a group.
She added that many of the companies represented in the Spain Pavilion have been looking towards Africa for years.
“We offer high quality products and the latest technologies, as well as service. We aim to get to potential customers and show them a wide range of quality products that Spain can offer.
So far we are very happy with the level of visitors and the quality”, Fernández Infante said.
In his remarks at the fair, Mercedes-Benz Weststar Associates Ltd. Key flat account manager, Thomas Ogundiran stated that their main target for participation in the exhibition is to present the brand Mercedes-Benz one more time in Nigeria and to reach out to potential customers, “and to meet and greet our customers which we invited.”
According to him, “Mercedes-Benz Weststar Associates is active in the Nigerian market since 2006. Important for our company is to support the local construction industry, the haulage industry and to serve our private customers.
Our products for the Nigerian market are for the construction and commercial industry -like the Sprinter. Here we have a hugh variation of vehicles, like tippers, tractor heads, sprinter buses, etc. All products are specially for the Nigerian market in terms of reinforcement and suspension.”
Ogundiran expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the exhibition.
Speaking also, John Mac Aulay of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Corporate Quarries said their participation in the exhibition is to showcase the different products and services their company can provide, adding that the company is trying to develop their third party market.
He noted that: “The first time Julius Berger arrived in Nigeria was 50 years ago for a construction project. Now we are a fully Nigerian owned company. We offer full construction products and services, specifically for the Nigerian market.
We are very satifsfied with the quality of the professional visitors. Both quality and volume are excellent.”
Commenting on quality of the fair, Masa GmbH – sales director and member of the management board, Frank W. Reschke noted that, “this is what we expected at the exhibition due to the quality of the professional visitors.
In his words, “It is our first visit after 10 years here in Nigeria. We see a potential market for building machinery in the future, Nigeria is a growing country.
Masa is the leading company in the building machinery worldwide. If we see the infrastructure in Nigeria, we see a “big market” for us.
In the first step it is our target to get a feeling for the market. Maybe looking for a a future partner (local).”
For Roberto Maci of marmistrada Italian Luxury Finishes Export Manager the Nigerian market has a great potential because of the increasing number of rich customers with interest in luxury products.
Maci who said the company has been active in Nigeria since 2013 explained that their products are especially suitable for the Nigerian market because Nigerian (rich) customers love luxury products especially made in Europe, Italy particularly.
The main target of our participation in this exhibition is to reach architects, designers, builders and private people, he said.
While, Enes Can of kastamonu – Export Department, a Turkish based company maintained that their main target is to find loyal customers and sellers of their products.
He noted that kastamonu want to promote the trend colours to the designers and to the interior designers construction companies.
According to him: “We are active over 5 years now in Nigeria. As we are a wood based panel manufacturer we have different ones that are being used for kitchen cabinets, laminate flooring and for doors. Nigeria’s booming construction market needs our products.”
