NCPC flags off 2016 Easter pilgrimage on 20th March
The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) is set to flag off the 2016 Easter pilgrimage exercise to Israel.
The Executive Secretary of the Commission, John Kennedy Opara disclosed this in Abuja recently.
According to him, the flag off of this year’s Easter pilgrimage will be on 20th March at Port Harcourt International Airport.
He stated that all logistics and security have been put in place by the Commission to make the exercise a hitch-free one.
He also disclosed that the Ground Handlers in Israel are ready to receive the pilgrims.
Mr. Opara informed that about four states will be participating in this year’s Easter pilgrimage exercise including some self sponsored pilgrims. The states are Ebonyi, Niger, Akwa Ibom and Lagos.
He further intimated that some of the pilgrims would participate in the skill acquisition and leadership training programme of the Commission.
He emphasized that the Commission would continue to use pilgrimage as a tool for moral transformation and spiritual rebirth.
The first batch of intending pilgrims for this year’s Easter pilgrimage will be from Ebonyi state.
According to the Executive Secretary, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi state, Chief David Umahi, will be the special Guest of Honour.
This year’s Easter pilgrimage exercise will mark the fourth edition since its introduction by the Commission.
