Airspace Managers across the nation’s airports under the aegis of Airspace
Managers’ Forum have thrown their support behind the current management of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), in its effort to sustain the gains of air safety in the country.
Speaking at this year’s first quarter Airspace Manager’s Forum which held in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, the chairman of the forum, Mr Gabriel Akpen commended the new management for making sure that navigational infrastructure across the country are working optimally, even as he lauded efforts of management in building capacity of critical personnel within the agency through training and retraining of staff.
Earlier in an address, the acting managing director of NAMA, Engr. Emma Anasi expressed gratitude to the Airspace Managers for ensuring safety of air navigation in their various domains, stressing the need to “transparently and broadly review our processes and administrative structures at every level” to enhance efficiency of service delivery.  Engr. Anasi also denounced some media reports to the effect that the agency was going through some challenges due to the absence of a substantive Managing Director. While assuring airspace managers that NAMA remained committed to the delivery of uninterrupted air navigation services across the nation’s airspace, Anasi said “this is reinforced by the fact that all our navigational facilities across the country have remained serviceable and are performing at optimal levels,” stressing that “we recently calibrated our navigational aids and also successfully completed the ICAO Audit within the period of this present management.” The NAMA boss affirmed that  both operational and administrative processes in the agency are going on seamlessly, even as he enjoined journalists to” balance their stories very well by verifying facts before rushing to press.” The visit to Adamawa State afforded Engr. Anasi and his management team the opportunity to inspect the agency’s navigational facilities at Yola airport and as well as the TRACON Radar Site at Numan. The team also paid a courtesy call on the Lamido Adamawa, Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha who commended NAMA “for ensuring safety and security of air travel in the country.”
