Bido decries high rate of ageing workforce in aviation sector
The president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Aeronautical Division, Engr Bola Bido has decried the high rate of ageing workforce in the aviation sector.
Engr Bido who stated his recently in Lagos observed that ageing workforce has remained a source of worry to the association.
He urged stakeholders and various state governments across the country to embark on the training of Aeronautical engineers in aviation colleges to replace the old ones.
Engr. Bido enjoined engineers to brace up for greater challenges ahead.
He noted that the engineering profession should bring out its best during economic downturn by sustaining the critical aviation infrastructure with minimal resources.
The president of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Aeronautical Division, emphasised that the call became necessary as a result of the present dwindling economic activities in the country.
He challenged engineers in the aviation sector not to rest on their oars as there was a great task of transforming the sector through ingenuity adding that the era of analogue was over as every sector has been digitilised.
Bido also stressed the need to imbibe maintenance culture as a norm adding that lack of maintenance culture has been attributed as one of the reasons responsible for the folding-up of some companies in the country.
Bido urged engineers to continue to play leading roles in all agencies in the aviation sector as the industry was being driven by technology manned by engineers.
He cautioned that no technical issues should be allowed to affect safety in any form not withstanding the challenges in the system.
