Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), on Tuesday charged the Newly appointed executive secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), to use the office as a unifying factor for Christians and to make Nigeria great again.

The executive secretary, NIREC, Rev Fr. Cornelius Omonokhua who gave the charge during a courtesy visit to the NCPC boss, in Abuja stressed that unity was needed in every establishment of the country. 

Omonokhua also commended the NCPC Executive Secretary for his efforts in peace building and inter-faith harmony. 

While describing the NCPC boss as a tested performer, Omonokhua hoped that the executive secretary would work together with NIREC towards achieving NIREC aims.

He was also optimistic that the executive  secretary would  support the close collaboration it has with the Christian and Muslim Pilgrim Commission. 

Similarly, the former Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly, Hon Sylvanus Nwansat, has charged the directors of NCPC to throw their weight behind the executive secretary to help him achieve his goals. 

Nwansat who pledged his support to the executive secretary urged him to remain focused and not disappoint President Muhammadu Buhari and the entire country. 

In his remark, Rev. Yakubu Pam, said that the country was lacking in unity and leadership in various areas. Religious leaders must be a symbol of unity and a rallying point for the country.

Pam said that religious crisis in the city and farmers headers crisis in the rural communities need to be worked out and the urgent need to restore peace in the country. 

”My failure will bring failure to the church in Nigeria especially as it relates to corruption which has eaten deeply into the fabrics of the nation, I will be an example to others,” he said
