NCPC boss assures of hitch free pilgrimage exercise
The executive secretary, Nigeria Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam has said that the Commission would deliver a hitch free pilgrimage exercise as necessary measures is being put in place to ensure an excellent and successful pilgrimage in December 2020.
He disclosed this recently during the meeting of pilgrimage leaders and managers at NCPC corporate headquarters in Abuja.
Rev. Pam explained that the meeting of conference of states was convened in anticipation of the 2020 December general pilgrimage exercise to Israel, Greece and Rome.
In his words ‘we are planning to make sure that we have the best operation this year in terms of having a Zero abscondment’.
He stressed that the Commission plans to have the best operation this year by providing the best service both on air and on ground while in Israel, as this would make pilgrims feel honoured and appreciated , and also to ensure that Nigeria is well represented in the Holy Land.
He further explained that pilgrimage exercise should not be seen as tourism rather it should be seen as a spiritual journey with added value.
The chairman of conference of states, Rev. Isaiah Magaji, in his address appreciated the executive secretary on behalf of the conference of states, stating that they were happy with his mission and vision for NCPC and his commitment to work.
Rev. Magaji commended the executive secretary for his visits to the zones and states to encourage the staff of pilgrims Welfare Boards and also the christian pilgrimage operators, assuring the executive secretary of their total support and loyalty.
It would be recalled that the executive secretary of NCPC, Rev.Y akubu Pam assumed office on 7th July, 2020 and this would be his first strategic meeting with the chairmen and secretaries of the states christian pilgrim welfare boards, including FCT.
