2021 Christian pilgrimage exercise: NCPC boss expresses satisfaction with facilities at MMI Airport Lagos, as FAAN pledges support
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam has expressed satisfaction with the facilities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos
ahead of preparation for the commencement of the 2021 Main pilgrimage exercise to Israel, Jordan and Rome slated for June.
Speaking during a courtesy visit to the regional manager Murtala Mohammed International Airport Lagos, Mrs Victoria Shin Aba and her team, the Executive Secretary affirmed that Lagos International Airport remains one of the foremost Airports in Nigeria.
Rev Pam said the strategic meeting became necessary to excertain the rate of preparedness of the airport as one of the terminals Where Pilgrims will be airlifed to the holy land.
Rev Pam stated that the commission will also like to know the COVID 19 protocols so that the Pilgrims will adhere strictly to the protocols.
NCPC boss solicited for acreditation and support for its staff that will be at the airport to facilitate the movement of the Pilgrims
He disclosed that the commission is looking at airlifting of over 1500 Pilgrims from Lagoss which will serve as the centre for the South West Zone.
Rev Pam said the NCPC is on top of their game to ensure that the airport facilities are in good shape to carter for the Pilgrims departing from the airport.
He also enquired about the use of VIP lounge for VIP guests and medical facilities at the airport.
In her response, Mrs Shin -Aba assured the executive secretary of NCPC that the airport is ready at all times for the exercise, adding the airlifting of Pilgrims has been reoccurent at the airport .
She requested that the NCPC provide her with the timetable of the exercise, the details of the passengers, period of the exercise, aircraft type on time to enable them plan ahead.
She advised that Pilgrims must get to the airport on time so that the process will be concluded on time.
On the COVID 19 protocols at the airport, she intimated the NCPC boss that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, had cancelled the spraying of luggages at the airport and had also abolished spacing of seats while on board, while the use of face masks is still in force.
The airport manager stated that the Pilgrims may be processed at the new terminal depending on the aircraft type.
Shin- Aba said the airport always priotise on the safety, security of passengers at all times.
She stated that the aircraft type should not be bigger than what the airport can accommodate.
The NCPC boss was later conducted round the airport where he inspected facilities such as the VIP lounge, arrival and departure halls, conveniences, the new terminal wing, among others.
