₦21million theft: Police arrest, arraign First Bank staff
The Police at the Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, Lagos Island, Lagos has arrested a 29-year-old Damilola Afolabi, staff of First bank of Nigeria, Marina, Lagos, for stealing and fraudulent withdrawal of N21 million, from her employer (First Bank)
Damilola who joined First Bank in January 2024 has been charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for the fraud.
She was accused of converting the money to her personal use without authorisation.
The Police said the defendant was arrested on the ordered of the Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP in charge of Area ‘A’ Command, Lagos Island, Lagos following a complaint by the management of the First Bank.
It was observed that after investigation by Inspector Ibrahim Abdulrafij and team, the defendant was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court, Lagos Island, on a four-count charge bordering on fraudulent withdrawal and stealing.
Police prosecuting Counsel, Inspector Hafsat Ajibode informed the Court in the charge marked M/17/2024, alleged that Afolabi committed the offence in February 2024 at the bank’s headquarters.
Ajibode told the court that the defendant used her position as a staff of the bank to unlawfully withdrew the sum of N21 millio from the account of her employer and and converted the money to her use.
