Ethiopian Airlines unveiled its latest and Africa’s first A350 -1000 aircraft today at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos amid fanfare.
The aircraft which was Welcomed with water canon salute at the airport was heralded by airport reception and unveiling of the aircraft by the airline staff, dignitaries and other staff.
The A35O -1000 aircraft which has Captain Sisay Kebede in command has onboard 15 Business Class passengers and 257 in Economy class.
Speaking during the airport reception, the General Manager, Ethiopian Airlines Nigeria, Wondwossen Beyene stated that
the historic occasion to celebrate the arrival of Ethiopian Airlines’ state-of-the-art A350-1000 fleet to Lagos, Nigeria marks a significant milestone in African aviation.
Beyene disclosed that the airline is expecting three more Airbus A350-1000 Aircraft in a few months ahead.
The GM stated that Ethiopian Airlines has become the first airline on the continent to introduce this cutting-edge aircraft.
He said the flight they are receiving today is the first commercial flight of the Aircraft underscoring the commitment of Ethiopian Airlines to the Nigerian market.
According to him, “the A350-1000 boasts a revolutionary design with innovative aerodynamics and a carbon-fiber fuselage, powered by the fuel-efficient Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, ensuring a quieter, smoother journey for long-haul travel. It is a game-changer in the aviation industry, boasting unparalleled comfort, efficiency, and technological advancements.
On board, passengers will experience unparalleled comfort on this Aircraft, because.
“It is the first Aircraft to feature Thales’s AVANT Up inflight entertainment system and the HBC+ connectivity system, providing travelers with luxurious amenities, High Speed internet connection, large screens, unique landscape camera and spacious seating with direct aisle access for all business class seats. Convenience is prioritized in both cabins”.
Beyene explained further that the aircraft also provides increased cargo capacity, facilitating seamless transportation of goods and services
This aircraft he said will not only elevate the travel experience for passengers but also strengthen trade and economic ties between Africa and the rest of the world.
