Court orders for arrest of Polaris Bank MD Omokayode Lawal for tax evasion
A Niger High Court has ordered for the arrest of the Managing Director of Polaris Bank, Omokayode Lawal and the Minna Branch Manager for contempt of Court.
The court presided over by Justice Maimuna Abubakar gave the order sequel to the allegation of tax evasion by the MD and Manager to the tune of N1 billion.
The case was filled by the Niger State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) through Muhammad Ndayako against the defendants for their refusal to pay taxes worth more than N1 billion.
The warrant of arrest was as a result of their refusal of the duo to honour the Court Summon to be present in court as they were absent during the court proceeding on Wednesday.
Justice Abubakar in her ruling ordered Police Officers to effect the arrest of the defendants.
The case has been adjourned to December 13, 2024 for the arraignment of the defendants.
