Abuja Airport Runway re-opens to arrivals, departures after Skybird incident

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN has reopened the Runway 22 of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
This was following its partial closure at about 2200hours yesterday, September 12, 2018 due to an incident involving a Gulfstream 4 aircraft operated by Skybird that overshot the Runway while landing and consequently got stuck on the Runway End Safety Area (RESA).

FAAN in their statement said the Runway is now ready to take arrivals and departures, subject to a reduced threshold of 3000metres.

Meanwhile, the Authority has assured airlines and passengers that the airport is safe for normal operations.
