The Airline Operators of Nigeria, AON has condemned the recent unruly behaviour of Senator Adams Oshiomhole at the Lagos airport where he missed his Air Peace flight after coming late to the airport, and decided to block the entrance of the terminal gate to prevent other passengers from gaining access to the airport for their flights.
Speaking during a press conference in Lagos, the Spokesman of AON, Professor Obiorah Okonkwo noted that Senator Oshiomhole’ s displays is a typical case of unruly passengers behaviour which in not acceptable.
The AON spokesman said the body is watching keenly to see what happens in this case wheather it will be swept under the carpet .
He expressed disappointment that the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN has not come out to give its own version of the story or play the CCTV camera so that Nigerians will see what transpired at the airport .
Okonkwo called on FAAN to speak up on the matter since it has the CCTV video of the incident.
He said no matter the profile of the Senator , the body is watching to see how the case is handled and if it will be treated different from what the laws recommends for unruly passengers .
AON spokesman stated further that Oshiomhole’s unruly behaviour is something that must not happen which the body don’t want to be happening.
He expressed the AON dismay about the incident and the calibre of the politician involved.
He pointed out that on that day, Air Peace suffered two bird strike and Oshiomhole action earlier also compounded the situation for the airline.
He dismissed Oshiomhole’s allegation of ticket racketeering against the airline, stating that no airline benefits from ticket racketeering in any way .
He said if the Senator has such evidence involving any of the airline staff, what he should do is to report to the airline for the disciplinary action to be taken against the airline staff and not to take laws into his hands.
He said the Senator should know the Authority to channel his grievances to when aggrieved for actions to be taken instead taking the laws into his hands.
