A security consultant to the Governor of Osun State and chairmanship aspirant in Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Oladipupo Babatunde Okeyomi, popularly called ‘Carry Go’, at the weekend escaped abduction by unknown gunmen
Okeyomi was travelling to Akure from Lagos when the attackers overtook and blocked his black Toyota Tundra around 8pm on Friday.
The alleged attackers wanted to forcefully open the front door but he resisted before they fled on sighting an Army roadblock not far away from the spot.
Narrating what happened, Okeyomi disclosed that he felt pressed and alighted from the vehicle to urinate not far from the Army road block along Ondo -Akure road. He had finished and had just entered the vehicle to continue the journey when an unmarked Lexus RX 300 SUV blocked him with three unknown men alighting from the vehicle.
He said he was able to escape when the assailants realized that the soldiers at the road block had noticed what was happening.
“The unmarked black Lexus jeep came from behind to block my car, the occupants alighted and wanted to forcefully open my side door but I was able to escape through the help of God. Luckily, the army officers who were a few meters away noticed what was happening and began moving towards us. But the abductors saw them coming and ran away. Sadly, the soldiers were unable to apprehend any of them before they fled the scene,” he said.
Okeyomi who praised God for helping him escape the abduction, further disclosed that he has been receiving strange calls threatening his life and that of his family members over his chairmanship aspirations.
He said he will inform the police about the attack as soon as he returns to Lagos.
He said, “I have been receiving strange calls with different numbers threatening my life and that of my family, warning that they will waste our lives if I did not drop my chairmanship aspiration. My life and that of my family is in danger, we are now living in fear.”
Okeyomi, who recalled that a similar incident took place last year on his way to Ibadan when he was attacked in his Toyota Yaris, reiterated his belief that God will continue to watch over him and his family.
