The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) had informed the general public that the Nigerian Air Force did not invade the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos as wrongly stated.
The management of FAAN said in a statement that the explanation becomes necessary following an online story claiming that men of Nigerian Air Force invaded the airport.
The Authority said what took place was a routine Security operation by a Joint Aviation Security Task Force comprising personnel from Aviation Security (Avsec), Department of Security Services (DSS) and Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to rid the airport of touts and miscreants, in accordance with Standards and Recommended Practices.
