The minister of state for Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika has disclosed that the federal government would complete the payment of the severance package of ex Nigerian Airways workers this year.
This was disclosed by Senator Sirika over the weekend during the 2019 stakeholders meeting in Lagos.
The minister stated that the remaining half of the severance package of the workers has been captured in the 2019 budget.
He assured the ex workers that with this development, they will surely receiving the other half of their severance package.
Sirika also appealed to the unions not to protest over obsolete organogram in the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority as constant protest and pcketing will help kill their own industry.
He promised to look into the issues raised by the union as it concern organogram with a view of addressing it.
I am a minister that has a listening ears, I have a lot of respect for trade unions, I will look in the issue of obsolete organogram raised by the union, Sirika assured.
It would recalled that the Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, ATSSSAN has threatened to shut down NCAA over non review of its obsolete organogram to promote those that are overdue for promotion.
Meanwhile, the minister has commissioned eight projects of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, two Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN projects, two projects of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMeT and two NCAA Projects all in Lagos among others.
The projects include: Procurement and Installation of High Powered Jottron VHF radios for Lagos East and West & Kano East and West, Conversion of warehouse to comfortable office accommodation for staff, Procurement, Installation and Commissioning of Category II Instrument Landing System (ILS/Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), Renovation and Remodeling of Centrex Building, Procurement, installation and Commissioning of Doppler very High Frequency Omini Directional Range (DVOR) and Instrument Landing System (ILS)/ Distance Measuring Equipment (DME).
The FAAN Projects include the Aviation Security, AVSEC Training School in Lagos and the commissioning of the newly constructed Aviation Clinic,
that of NiMet include Secure Aviation Data Information System (SADIS) and construction of NiMet Clinic, while that of NCAA include launching of Passengers Bill of Rights,
CCTV Surveillance System (Lagos-HQ Annex), and the commissioning of two FMOT (Aviation) projects like the construction of Pilot Lounge at Murtala Muhammed Airport, MMA and construction of Baggage Sorting Shed at MMIA.
Other projects would be commissioned in airports in the six geo-political zones of the country.
