The Ethiopian Day at Akwaaba African Travel Market 2019 ended on a grand note with the management of Ethiopian Airlines treating guests to a night of Ethiopian Experience while revealing a positive rise in its fortunes over the years in review.
The general manager of Ethiopian Airline Firiehiwot Mekonnen while welcoming the guests to the event said the Airline proudly flaunts itself as a Pan African Airline.
“Ethiopian Airline is positioning it’s brand and strategies to touch every part of Africa and Europe and we can say we have recorded successes so far.We project overwhelming success in 2025 judging by the time what we have on ground and a wonderful team. We posted profit this very challenging year.”
“We are also introducing our flights to Houston an American city with a lot of Nigerians. This is part of our plans to expand and our extend our services to our esteemed customers anywhere they are”, she added
Speaking further in her presentation Firiehiwot Mekonnen said Ethiopian Airlines operates a diversified aviation group with 7 Strategic Business Units which have been the secret of the brand’s giant strides in the sector. The Country Manager of ASKY Airlines, Simon Mobolaji while thanking the guests for their presence at the event also said the partnership between Asky and Ethiopian Airline promises to bridge a gap and cover most local and International routes. He said the new ASKY flight to Johannesburg is a good example. Notable among the guests in attendance included Sharon Palacio from the Belize, Didier Bayeye of Sun International and wife, members of Ethiopian Community in Nigeria, officials of Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), journalists and tourism enthusiasts.
The organiser of Akwaaba African Travel Market, Mr Ikechi Uko said the country boasts of rich culture which he has experienced.
He urged the guests to be curious in exploring the peculiar delicacies of Ethiopia.
More than 200 guests and participating countries came out to enjoy the Dorwat and Njera delicacies.
A good blend of Nigerian cuisines from professional chefs who had participated at the Jollof Rice War earlier added spice to the event.
There was also a taste of coffee and wines from the Ethiopians.
The climax of the day was a raffle draw at the instance of the Ethiopian Airline management.
Mr Didier Bayeye emerged winner of a Business Class ticket to Addis Ababa for a 5 night stay.
He however had a grace of a dual ticket with his wife. Special attention came on the couple as they met at one of the previous editions of Akwaaba and got married in 2019.
Ethiopian Airline promises to remain steadfast in its quest to bringing the best of travel experience to Africa and to the world at large in years to come.
