Man docked for unlawful possession of pump action gun
A middle age-man, Sofela Temidayo, has been arraigned before a Chief magistrate’s Court, sitting at Igbosere, Lagos, for unlawful possession of pump action gun.
He was arraigned by the men of Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex, Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos, on a count charge of the offence.
The defendant, according to the prosecutor, Barrister Morufu Animashaun, was arrested on May, 26, 2019, at about 19.10 hours, at Adekunle Street, Oshodi, with the said weapon.
He was said to have committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 27(b)(I) of the Firearms Act. Cap. F28, Vol. 7, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
At the resumed hearing of the defendant’s bail application today, he was not produced in court by the Men of Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) formerly Nigeria Prison Services, where he wa remanded.
Consequently, the presiding magistrate, Mr. B. I. Bakare, adjourned the matter till Thursday, for ruling on the defendant’s bail application
Charge against the defendant reads: “that you Sofela Temidayo ‘M’ on or about the 26th day of May, 2019 at about 19.10 hours at Adekunle Street, Oshodi, Lagos m the Lagos Magisterial District unlawfully had In your possession a pump action gun Without valid Incense and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section and punishable under Section 27(b)(i) of the Fire Arms Act. Cap. F 28 Vol 7. Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004”.
