Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu pledges support for 2020 Christian Pilgrimage Exercise

The airport manager of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu, Mrs Oguama Cecelia has pledged her support for the 2020 Christian Pilgrimage Exercise to Israel, Rome and Greece.

She made made the pledge recently during a meeting and inspection of facilities at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu.

She said that the Airport Authorities would grant the Commission every assistance and collaboration during the airlift of pilgrims from the Enugu International Airport.

In her words, “I guarantee maximum support and cooperation for the NCPC Staff who will be in charge of the Pilgrims”.

The airport manager informed that over the years the Enugu Airport have had a roburst working relationship with NCPC. According to her, “We have worked together cordially in the past and we will do better this year”.

Mrs Uguama explained that Federal Ministry of Health and the FAAN are working together to put every necessary arrangement in place so that the Airport can begin to airlift International passengers.

She also stressed the need for the Commission to enlighten the intending Pilgrims on the COVID 19 protocols.

According to her, “we shall strictly observe the COVID 19 protocols put in place by the NCDC to ensure the safety of our passengers”.

Speaking earlier, the executive secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam thanked the Airport Authorities for the cooperation the Commission had enjoyed over the years. In his words, “we airlifted Pilgrims from this Airport two years ago and our operation was smooth”.

The NCPC boss who was represented by the director of Operations NCPC, Rev.Amos Yohanna informed that the Commission would commence this year’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land in December.

According to him, “we will do everything humanly possible to ensure the safety of our pilgrims and to comply with the COVID 19 rule and protocols set by the NCDC”.

Rev Pam appealed to the Airport Authorities to adequately inform the Commission on the measures to put in place for a hitch free airlift this year.

The NCPC helsman commended the Federal Government for the renovation going on at the Enugu International Airport. In his words, “we are happy for the work going on here, especially for the upgrade of the run way, it means that our pilgrims from the South East can be airlifted from this Airport”.

He solicited for more cooperation and support from the official of the Airport for a successful Pilgrimage exercise this year.
