Minister St.Ange‎ tasks Seychelles‎ on island’s tourism industry growth

The Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, Mr Alain St.Ange has appealed to the people of Seychelles to continue working as one to keep the island’s tourism industry growing‎.

Addressing the people of Seychelles last week as he closed the 2016 edition of the island’s Carnaval International de Victoria, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture emphasised the importance of the tourism industry and the need to keep increasing the visibility of the islands for the Seychelles to remain relevant as a tourism destination.

“The potential reward for an even more successful tourism industry would be remarkable for the people of Seychelles and for the local business community, but for this to happen Seychelles needs for once and for all to get politics out of the local tourism scene”, he said‎.

St.Ange continued that: ‎”We are one people and all of us together, we have but one Seychelles. This is what I said when I addressed the opening ceremony of the carnival and this I believe. Seychelles has had a successful tourism industry and it can still get better if we continue to work as one
The whole business community of Seychelles is relieved when the island’s tourism industry is working well, and they are all more conscious of this today than they have ever been on the need to rally together with players in the tourism industry to ensure the industry that remains the pillar of the Seychelles economy continues to work well.”

Minister Alain St.Ange concluded that: ‎”The Carnival International e Victoria is a good event for Seychelles. It brings press in large numbers to our shores which is good for the visibility of our islands, and it provides a plus for us the People of Seychelles and also for our visitors. For this carnival we salute the Ephelia Resort for example for bussing tourists to Victoria as we salute Creole Travel for providing busses to move their guests to Victoria to see the carnival. The 72 strong Chinese group here to support their carnival delegations is another example that we could not miss as they were seen chasing behind their delegation around Victoria. Two Israeli Charters with well over 600 passengers arrived in the country during the carnival and most of them were in Victoria early and seen around Independence House as they prepared to find suitable spots to watch the carnival parade.” ‎
