The presidential candidate of National Association of Nigerian Travel Agencies, NANTA, Mrs Susan Akporiaye has promised to to unite the body by bringing every zone on board.
Speaking while unveiling her manifesto and team for NANTA’s elective Annual General Meeting coming up in March in Kano during a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, February 4th at the NANTA Secretariat, Mrs Akporiaye who is going into the contest unopposed promised to straighten the database of the association if elected president.
She assured that her team will work hard to bridge and mend cracks, reach-out, share solutions, increase its membership profile, but will not encourage divisive tendencies, nor empower cult ship and unbridled cut throat competition and acts inimical to the unity of the association.
The NANTA presidential hopeful reassured members and stakeholders that the body after 43 years, would refocus and retool for a new generation of trade business and political realignment that can make it stand above its pears.
Akporiaye who is also the chairperson of the AGM organizing committee and first deputy president noted that there has been calls in recent times for deep interrogation of NANTA collective and vision with some people within and outside its environment agitating for policy shift and redirection for NANTA as an institution.
She reassured her members, the federal government and their principals, that her team is sufficiently aware of the desire to up the aviation game in the down stream sector, project its national profitability, encourage its acceptability as a veritable pillar of national economic contributor and strong bastion of academic research and recognition.
In her words: “ Over the years, NANTA has grown to attract the attention and respect of the government. We shall innovate on this approach and get NANTA to play a key role in women affairs without which homes today would be in trouble”.
She assured that a new NANTA will emerge in Kano which will prioritize the welfare of members by doing zonal town hall meetings to capture the deep feeling of members on any given issue.
Akporiaye said she and her team are coming on board with open mind that can push their position and get results without threatening the sector and well being of their members.
We shall protect the airlines from fly by night operators even from members who may be tempted to test the will power of the association and also to sanction acts unbecoming of registered operators, she said.
NANTA presidential aspirant said apart from engaging critical players from time to time, her team would endeavor to visit select icons and legends in the sector to tap from their wealth of experience and be guided.
Akporiaye stated that she will support and generate an all inclusive NANTA aviation training school which will bear its trade mark of excellence , innovation, well guided international exposure and content.
She noted that the same intent will also manifest a hospitality engagement not just in the drive to diversify the NANTA investment profile, but support the growth of the Nigerian aviation and tourism sectors.
