NCAA assures on continuous, training, retraining of aviation personnel
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has said that it would continue to ensure the training and retraining of personnel in the country’s aviation industry.
This is coming just as the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria, Capt. Muhammed Abdulsalami, called for accurate reporting of the sector by journalists covering the beat.
Capt, Abdulsalami noted that the course is very important for the industry so that the Journalists can understand the industry very well.
Speaking on Monday at NCAT, Zaria during the flag-off ceremony of 2019 League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) Training jointly sponsored by NCAA and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt. Muhtar Usman, the director-general of NCAA, stated that the regulatory agency would not relegate training to the background.
Capt. Usman who was represented at the occasion by the deputy general manager, Public Affairs, Mr. Joe Jimoh noted that the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) considers the exercise as a key component of aviation development in Nigeria.
The NCAA boss said that the regulatory agency had continued to ensure compliant with the recommendations of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) through training of personnel.
In his words: “Training is vital to our operations as a regulatory authority. The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requires all civil aviation authorities in the world to have requisite professionals in sufficient number. Therefore our staff are exposed to relevant trainings all over the world. This is to ensure the Authority provides a robust regulation for the aviation industry.
It is against this background that the NCAA has continually endeavoured to extend similar trainings to the media corps over the years. You will agree with me that the media is critical to the growth of global aviation”.
He declared that as a result of its compliant with industry standards, NCAA had continually endeavoured to extend similar trainings to the media corps over the years, stressing that the media was critical to the growth of global aviation.
He expressed confidence that just like in the past years, NCAA would ensure zero accident in 2019 in all air transport categories.
He pointed out that the agency with the support of the Federal Government Sen. Hadi Sirika, Minister of Late for Aviation had been strengthening its regulatory capability in all aspects of its operations.
Usman stated that the NCAA is planning to commence an award with very generous remuneration for certain categories of aviation journalists.
The award according to him, ” will go to those who have been adjudged to have contributed immensely by their reports and analysis to the promotion and growth of aviation in Nigeria.
It is my view that your watchdog role plays a very important part in fostering stability in the industry. With credible reports and in depth analysis founded on good critique of the industry, this will motivate the regulatory authority and indeed all other stakeholders to provide pillars of growth for the sector.
In my assessment of the media, this training is an indication of the spirit of camaraderie that had existed between NCAA and your group”.
He continued that the media has been with them in this journey and have been worthy partners as every success story about aviation in Nigeria cannot be written without the contributions of the aviation Journalists.
