NCAA blacklists popular musician, KWAM 1 for six months for breach of aviation safety protocols

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, has disclosed that popular Nigerian musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, KWAM 1 will be blacklisted for
the next six months for breach of aviation safety protocols at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja.

With the blacklist, the musician is bared from flying any domestic Airline in the country in the next six months.

Speaking at the just concluded League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents, LAAC 2025 annual
Seminar in Lagos on Thursday, Michael Achimugu,
Director Public Affairs and Consumer Protection of NCAA stated that the NCAA has written the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to take up a court case against the passenger in this case.

Responding to the question that many people might not want to believe that KWAM 1 was blacklisted
because he’s close to the presidency, NCAA Director of public relations noted that it is possible to blacklist the musician because
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,
is a respecter of the law.

“And so is the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo. Both of them submit themselves to every security check at every airport, everywhere in the world. So No other Nigerian is above the law. People will break rules. That’s why the law enforcement exists . However, if it does happen, it is why there’s infrastructure and institutions in place to deal with those kind of scenarios. AFSEC is there”, Achimugu said.

Achimugu queried,
“The question is, could he not have been offered water on board the aircraft by the cabin crew? The things are simple. Another question we want to ask ourselves as Nigerians is, would this passenger have disobeyed this law, say, at Heathrow Airport in the UK, or anywhere else outside of Nigeria, for that matter?

He explained further that: “There are videos circulating, which are also in the possession of the authority. My question is
when you watch those videos, if the engine of that plane was not positioned where they were, what would have happened to Passenger . Has the pilot acted in the best possible manner, giving hid training? .
DG, Captain Najomo, has spoken with the relevant directors, the CAA, and came to the conclusion that immediate action must be taken.
And so, the licenses of this pilot, the pilot and the FIRST OFFICER
have been suspended pending the outcome of investigations. What I must assure the general life public is that everybody involved in this will be brought to book”.
