NIHOTOUR DG, Kangiwa, emerges West African Tourism Personality of the year

...Calls for collarborations with Ghanaian. Tourism Authority to develop tourism in West Africa

The Director General of the National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism, NIHOTOUR, Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa has called for cooperation and collarborations of the Ghanaian. Tourism Authority, GTA in developing tourism in West Africa .

This is coming just as the Director General was named the West African Tourism Personality of the year 2022/2023 for his outstanding performance in manpower development in the tourism and hospitality industry on Nigeria.

Speaking in Accra at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Accra Weizo in Ghana, with the theme: Tourism Development through Digitalization, Alhaji Kangiwa who was represented by Dr Taiwo Famogbiyeleve, head of general studies NIHOTOUR, said Nigeria an Ghana need to share their experiences in tourism and hospitality for the benefit of the two countries.

Kangiwa stated that by sharing their experiences, the two countries will benefit from each other and also help tor the growth of tourism in West Africa.

He noted that partnerships and collaboration is vital in moving West Africa higher in tourism receipt in Africa.

The NIHOTOUR boss explained that the institute has been steadfast in upholding its mandate which is manpower development in the Nigerian tourism and hospitality sector, in addition to the introduction of its Gastronomy Festival which the third edition will be coming up on Abuja in June.

Kangiwa commended the organiser of Accra Weizo, Mr Ikechi Uko for his foresight and collarborations with the Ghanian Tourism Authority to organise the programme.

He said NIHOTOUR has been collaborating with Mr Uko in his programmes to uplift tourism and hospitality in Nigeria and by extension West Africa.
