SAHCO PLC unveils N600m ground handling equipment in Lagos
The management of Skyway Aviation Handling Company, SAHCO PLC has unveiled its state of the art ground handling equipment worth about N600 million (1 million Euro) in Lagos.
Speaking while unveiling the equipment on Tuesday August 4th in Lagos, the managing director of SAHCO PLC, Mr Basil Agboarumi stated that the brand new ground handling equipment which is worth 1 million Euro, about N600million aside the cost of clearing from the port will be deployed to offer their clients excellent ground handling services.
He said the unveiling of the equipment is coming at a time the aviation industry is grappling with the devastating impact of Covid 19 pandemic where other ground handlers are shying away from investing, SAHCO is investing heavily in the state of the art facilities to give its teeming clients the best services.
Agboarumi noted that the company is not just investing in equipment, but also in the training of staff who will operate the equipment.
On how the company is planning to recoup its huge investment, the MD said the company will recoup its investment with its growing clientele base like British Airways which the company is going to start handling from August 11 and other numerous clients.
He stated further that SAHCO is also working in collaboration with the Association of Aviation Ground Handlers, AGHAN, to ensure the right pricing of ground handling services.
Agboarumi said that the chairman of SAHCO is a man who is desirous of seeing the company grow and offer excellent services to its customers.
He added that for SAHCO to remain in business, it must continue to invest in new equipment.
Speaking also, executive director cargo services, Mrs Boma Ukwunna, who said the equipment falls under her purview stated that her commitment is to ensure that that equipment provided by the company is well utilised.
She promised to uphold that commitment in ensuring that the equipment are judiciously utilised.
In his remarks also, director of sales and marketing, Mr Olaniyi Adigun, thanked the board and management of SAHCO for making the work of sales and marketing easier for them with its state of the art equipment.
He said SAHCO is a leader in the sector and will continue to maintain that lead.
The equipment procured by SAHCO include: 35 containers odlies , 50 pallet odlies, 50 baggage carts, 3 belt loaders, 3 passengers stairs and 6 forklifts.
