Court orders Emirates Airlines to pay $1.6m, N50m for unlawful conversion of passenger’s funds

A Federal High Court Lagos has ordered Emirates Airlines to pay $1.6million and N50millon for unlawful conversion of a passenger’s funds. The businessman, Mr. Orji Prince Chu Ikem, whose hand luggage contained $1, 630 million , was illegally and unlawfully converted by some staff of Emirates Airlines, during a business trip from Lagos to China in 2007. FG grants approval for Emirates Airlines to operate into Nigeria

Based on the undertaking by the authorities of the United Arabs Emirates (UAE), the Nigerian government has agreed to lift the ban placed on Emirates Airlines from operating into and out of the country.
