Appeal Court affirms N5m judgement against First bank over extra-judicial killing

The Court of Appeal, Lagos division has affirmed the judgement of a Lagos high court, which ordered First bank Plc, to pay the sum of N5 million to a businesswoman, Ganiat Amope Dilly. Apart from dismissing the appeal, a 3-man-panel, which includes, Justice Obande Festus Ogbuinya, Justice Fatima Omoro Akinbami and Justice Fredrick Oziakpono Oho, also unanimously slammed a N100, 000 cost against First Bank Plc with for instituting the appeal. Alleged Extra-Judicial Killing: Appeal Court orders High Court to hear N4bn suit against IGP, Akpoyibo, others

The Lagos Division of Court of Appeal, has ordered the High Court of Lagos State to resume hearing of N4 billion fundamental right enforcement suit, instituted against Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and a former Commissioner of Police in Lagos, AIG Marvelous Akpoyibo (retired) and three others, over the alleged extra-judicial killing of four Ladipo Market traders, on July 21, 2001.
