Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of a Federal High Court, Lagos, today, convicted and sentenced a tailoring apprentice, Osahon Osamudiamen Frank, to 12 months imprisonment, over Internet Fraud of N450,000,00.
Justice Aneke passed the judgment on the convict after he pleaded guilty to to counts charge of false representation and obtaining the mentioned sum from one Shu Qitang (Tan), with false presentation of shipping a box from Canada.
The convicted tailoring apprentice turned Internet fraudster, was arraigned before the court by Barrister Morufu Ajani Animashaun, a legal officer at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (ForceCID) Annex Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos.
The charges against the convict reads: “That you Osahon Osamudiamen Frank “M” between the month of June – September, 2025 at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, in the Lagos Judicial Division, did falsely represents yourself to be one Linda Partrick (a Canadian lady) with the intention of defrauding’ people and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 484 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C38, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
“That you Osahon Osamudiamen Frank “M” between the month of August-September, 2025 at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, fraudulently received the sum of N450, 004, 000 (Four Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) from one Shu Qitang (Tan) on the misrepresentation that you are shipping a box from Canada to be delivered to him in Nigeria, knowing same to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(1)(a) Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act 2006.”
Upon the reading of the charge, the convict, who told court that he did not need any lawyer to defend him, admitted committing the offences and pleaded guilty to the charges.
Based on his guilty plea, the prosecutor, Barrister Animashaun reviewed the facts of the case, and tendered all documentary exhibits, which included the convict’s confessional statement.
Upon the reviewed of the facts of the case, the convict pleaded for leniency and urged the court to be merciful on him.
Passing the verdict, Justice Aneke, sentenced the convict to 12 months imprisonment with 100 hour community service.
The judge however ruled that the convict should pay the N450, 000, to the consolidated account revenue of the federal government, as a fine option to the jail-term
