The Taraba State Gubernatorial Election Tribunal has nullified the election of Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba state.
The tribunal in its judgement ruled that Governor Ishaku was inapriopriately picked as the Peoples Democratic Party Candidate in the party’s primaries befofe winning the election.
The Governor having been elected in the PDP primaries that was conducted in Abuja instead of in Taraba falls short of the requirement of the Electoral Act.
With the judgement, is expected that the All Progressive Congress, APC candidate, Senator Aisha Alhassan will be sworn in if the PDP candidate did not appeal the judgement within the stipulated time given for appeal.
Senator Alhassan has gone to court challenging the election of Governor Ishaku on the ground that she secured more of the valid votes.
