The Hon. Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has lauded the former Nigerian Christians Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, boss, Professor John Kennedy Opara on his contributions to the education sector with the unveiling of Grit Height School Abuja.
Umahi who made the statement during the unveiling and dedication of the newly built Grit Heights School in Wuse Zone, Abuja stated that education is the greatest gift a nation can give its people.
The Minister added that education remains the bedrock of any nation and must be given serious priority.
“I feel so honoured to be the one to unveil this school in the midst of other eminently qualified personalities,” Umahi said.
Je praised the Chairman of the School, Prof. John Kennedy Opara, noting his success in agriculture and his emerging contributions to the education sector.
“Prof. Opara has effectively managed a multi‑million‑dollar farm; we are confident he will manage the school equally well,” the Minister remarked.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, expressed delight at the realization of the project:
“It is interesting to watch this transformation. When you visit his farm you will see the difference; now we can see the difference here. The school is special in many ways.”
The former Senate President also affirmed that Prof. Opara “has a very good finishing line.”
Speaking on behalf of the school, the Chairman, Prof. Opara, the pioneer Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, called on government at all levels to prioritize and invest massively in education as a catalyst for growth and development. He explained that the new edifice will provide a proper learning environment for students.
The dedication ceremony was led by Apostle Joshua Selman founder of Eternity Network International.
Among the dignitaries at the event were the Acting Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo; First Lady of Ebonyi State, Mary‑Maudline Nwifuru; former Chief of Staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Mike Ogadiome; former Primate of the Anglican Communion, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh; and serving and retired members of the Bench, among others.
Grit Heights School is a modern educational facility committed to delivering high‑quality learning experiences. The school aims to nurture academic excellence, character development, and leadership among its students.
