US don advises Buhari to fight corruption above party lines
Professor of Communication at Kent State University Partnership and Lorain County Community College United States of America, Primus Igboaka has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intensify his fight on corruption above party lines.
Speaking with Journalist in Lagos, Professor Igboaka commended president Buhari on his fight against corruption, but maintained that the fight should not be based on party politics.
He maintained that both the All Progressive Congress, APC and People’s Democratic Party, PDP have ruled at both the states and local government level in the last political dispensation, that the the fight against corruption should be extended to all of them, so that it will not look like a witchhunt.
The probe should be universal irrespective of party lines and affiliation, he said.
He however warned that there must be concrete evidence by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC to prosecute treasury looters and not just mere accusation, petition and suspicion.
Professor Igboaka who is also the coordinator of Transparency Leadership Forum based in Atlanta urged the President to make the common man feel the impact of his government, adding that leadership is for the common good of the people.
He enjoined president Buhari to ensure that Nigerians do not loot the nation’s treasury and take it abroad again.
While advocating for good governance, the Professor of Kent State University Partnership in the US stated that four years will not even be enough to transform Nigeria.
He urged the president to show and give Nigerians hope for believing and voting him.
Igboaka said the Nigerian parliament should also decide on what will be the fate of those that voluntarily surrendered their looted wealth, whether they should be prosecuted or allowed to go free for volunteering to forfeit their ill gotten wealth.
He said the president need the support and encouragement of all Nigerians to succeed.
Igboaka observed that the churches are not even helping in the fight against corruption, as money has now taking the front burner in most churches while spirituality has taken the back seat.
