Le Meridien Ibom Hotel hosts SPG Golf Invitational Tournament
Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort once again hosted the Starwood Preferred Guest Ibom Golf Invitational tournament 2016.
The Hotel blazed the trail with its 18 holes world class golf course which was tested and revealed as the best.
This annual event now in its 4th year has been recognised as one of the most prestigious golfing events in the Nigerian golfing calendar, as it successfully brings together a mix of both business and lifestyle SPG members for a 3 day festival of golf.
In the course of the competition, the players and their guests arrived at Nigeria’s only golf resort at the start of the weekend to register for the event, before heading out on to the lush fairways of the Nature wrapped Le Meridien Ibom golf course to fine tune their game before the weekend’s competitive play begins.
Ibom has become synonymous with high quality golf events, through hosting its annual LM Open, the National Finals of the Global Golf series and more recently the SPG Invitational Tournaments.
The awe inspiring golf course offers companies a unique opportunity to really explore and showcase themselves in idyllic surroundings.
The Friday evening welcome Cocktail party with great food prepared by the Hotel’s acclaimed Chef Johan DePrins and his team provided a great opportunity for players to mix socially while getting updates about any program or tournament changes.
The tournament proper commenced at 8.00am on Saturday morning with the elite field of 63 players vying for the overall winner’s prize of 2 return Business class tickets – (Lagos/Dubai) and a 4 night stay for 2 in – Le Royal Meridien Beach Plaza Resort & Spa Dubai along with prizes in each of the following categories-
Category A – 1st prize -weekend stay – 3 nights B&B Sheraton Grand Dubai) and 25,000 star points.
Category B – 1st prize -weekend stay – 3 nights B&B Sheraton Creek Dubai) and 25,000 star points
Category C – 1st prize -Weekend stay – 3 nights B&B Westin Soma Bay) and 25,000 star points
Ladies – 1st prize -weekend stay – 3 nights B&B Ajman Saraj) and 25,000 star points
Veterans – 1st prize -weekend stay – 3 nights B&B Westin Cape Town) and 25,000 starpoints SPG and Starwood Nigeria properties provided prizes for the runner’s up and third place players in each category, with the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort providing additional prizes for the nearest to the pin , apart from the prizes won from Starwood Hotels in Dubai, Cape town and Soma Bay in Egypt; Emirates Airlines partner unveiled the major prize: Business Class Tickets from Emirates and a voucher for a 4 nights stay for 2 at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa Dubai.
Over all best Nett player emerged by the name of C.A Ajibaye with a score of 145.
Hosting the event at Ibom allowed all the players and their guests to enjoy various life style activities during the event which were inspired by both #spglife and Le Meridien brand experiences which included: mouthwatering display of Le Meridien eclairs at the dessert table during the golfers luncheonan #spgcravings – Twice as Nice offers.
