NCAC holds retreat to review mandate
The director general, National Council for Arts and Culture, Otunba Segun Runsewe has held a 3 day retreat for all the zonal directors of the council in Abuja.
The retreat was to review the mandate of National Council for Arts and Culture under the current dispensation for the purpose of repositioning the Council for improved efficiency and better performance.
At the retreat, the director general emphasised to the zonal directors the new vision of the council which is to use Arts and Culture as a veritable tool for job creation, income and wealth generation that will in turn stimulate rapid socio – economic growth and development.
He added that the council is now more determined to move Nigeria from total dependence on oil for economic growth by harnessing its Arts, Crafts and cultural products in diversifying the economy for integrated growth and development.
Otunba Runsewe directed the zonal directors to carefully study the waste to wealth programme initiated at the headquarters and see how they can integrate and implement it in their various zones.
On Skill Acquisition, the director general added that the Skill Acquisition Programme of the Council is to equip unemployed Nigerians especially the women and youths with skills that will make them to be independent.
The retreat also afforded the NCAC management the opportunity of working out a road map and a strategic plan for 2018 programme conceptualization and implementation.
