Nigeria spearheads Africa – China relations with launch of ACCAES in Botswana

Africa – China bilateral relations has taken a new dimension especially in the area of culture and arts.
A strong non-governmental body was officially launched tagged: Africa-China culture and arts exchange society ( ACCAES) with the sole aim of promoting inter-cultural activities between African artists and China’s people’s Republic cultural programme.
Giving his speech during the event, the China ambassador to the republic of Botswana, H.E Dr. Zhao Yanbo encouraged the body to be focused in setting out it primary objectives which according to him is for the organisation to penetrate the international market with a unique brand with strong originality.
The delighted ambassador further charged the artists, educators and other professionals from both sides, to make impact in the international sphere.
Declaring the event open, Botswana minister of tertiary education, research, science and technology, Hon. Ngaka Ngaka said he is most privileged to be part of history through his visionary approach in showcasing Africa-China culture and arts to the world.
Ngaka said this initiative will serve to expand relations between African countries and China beyond the traditional jurisdictions of trade and diplomacy.
He was also of the view that the growing bilateral relations is an avenue for creativity and artistry which will enrich the people across the cultural divide and promote a win-win situation and mutual exchange in culture, arts and education.
On his part, director- general National Council of Art and Culture (NCAC)) Otunba Segun Runsewe, who also doubled as the world crafts council president ( Africa region) represented by Dr. Lizzy Iheanacho, director research and documentation of the council emphasised the robust relations between his office and China.
She recalled over seventeen staff of the Council had travelled to China for cultural exchange and human capital development training adding, “With this body, culture and arts is opening a new dialogue of public discourse.”
Dr. lizzy used the opportunity to invite the various countries at the occasion to the forthcoming International Arts and Crafts expo( INAC) slated to hold from 20th -27th November later this year.
