Suspected yahoo boy docked for forging foreign drivers’ documents
A 33 year-old suspected yahoo boy, David Peter, was today, arraigned before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for allegedly forged a foreign driving document.
Peter, a resident of 19/21 Shangijimi Street, Oko-oba, Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, according to the men of Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (FCIID) Alagbon-Ikoyi, Lagos, allegedly forged an American driving document titled “Tennessee Commercial Driver License” which he intend to use in defrauding unsuspecting foreigners.
Arraigning the suspect in court on Tuesday, the prosecutor, Barrister Morufu Animashaun, told the court that suspect was arrested upon receiving a petition from his landlord, Ismail Surajudeen, on a false information he made against him which led to his prosecution.
Animashaun told the court that upon receiving the petition, the suspect was invited for interrogation and that it was during interrogation that the said forged documents were found on him. Adding that when enquired about the documents, he told the police that he intend using it for illegal act.
The prosecutor told the court that following his owning up to the alleged crime, the suspect was brought before the court on charges bordering on forgery, fraud and conduct likely to cause breach of public peace.
The offences according to the prosecutor are punishable under sections 325, 366(1)(2)(3) and 168(d) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Following his plea, the magistrate, Mrs. O. O. Oshin, admitted him to bail in the sum of N250, 000, with two sureties I’m like sum.
Magistrate Oshin also ordered the sureties who must be residents of Lagos State to furnish the court with three years tax payable to the Lagos State government, meaning of livelihood and their addresses, which must be verified by the prosecutor.
The matter has been adjourned till February 22, 2019, for trial.
Count one of the charge against the defendant reads: “that you David Peter ‘m’ on or about 22nd of November 2018 at No. 19/21 Shangojimi Street, New Oko-Oba Ifako-Ijaiye Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: fraud and thereby an offence on contrary to and punishable under section 325 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state 2015.
Count two reads: “That you David Peter, m’ on or about 22nd of November 2018, at No. 19/21 Shangojimi Street, New Oko-Oba, lfako-Ijaiye, Lagos, In the Logos magisterial District, intent to defraud, had In your possession document “titled Tennessee Commercial Driver License” and other false documents which document were printed out from your WhatsApp Account number 09069179817 which you knew contained false information and thereby committed on offence contrary to and punishable under section 366( l ) (2)(3) of the Criminal Law of Logos 2015″.
And Count three reads: “that you David Peter ‘m’ on or about 10th of October, 2018 at No. 19/21 Shongojimi Street. New Oko-Obo. lfako-Ijaiye, Lagos, In the Lagos Magisterial! District, conducted yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by Inciting hoodlums against one Ismail Surajudeen and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 68 of the Criminal Law of Lagos 2015”.
