Inside Watch Africa Magazine set to celebrate 10th anniversary in grand style
Inside Watch Africa Magazine (IWA) has concluded arrangement to celebrate its 10th anniversary in grand style.
The Publisher of the Magazine, Mr Oluwaseyi Adeyemo in a statement outlining the programmes to mark its 10th anniversary explained that the essence of the Magazine was informed by the alarming level at which Africans have increasingly continued to disconnect from everything African.
Adeyemo noted that this development informed the need to reconnect Africans back to the very essence of Africa by deliberately implanting the sense of self-worth in the average Africans right from time the publication started 10 years ago.
He observed that Inside Watch Africa (IWA) Magazine has its focus as ‘Reconnecting Africans to their roots and publishing contents with Africanness’ which is in sync with the mission of the publication.
“As expected, in the past 10 years, we have encountered lots of obstacles on our way but thankfully we have also experienced great times and gathered a lot of knowledge along the way. We are fully aware that as a media house, we are to inform, educate, criticize objectively and stimulate discussions and we are resolved to do that to the best of our abilities. It is obvious that we are not where we want to be 10 years into publishing IWA but we are confident that leveraging our pedigree we are going to do a lot better in the years ahead in attaining out objectives.
“As part of the new steps we are taking to rebrand IWA, we will be holding the maiden edition of IWA lecture series entitled, ‘The Trajectory of Trans-West African Travel and Trade; 1975 Till Date and the Way Forward’, at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Monday, 19th of November 2018 at 10am to commemorate the 10th anniversary of IWA”, Adeyemo said.
He added that the Keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Sola Afolabi, a renowned scholar, international conference speaker, a retired director at ECOWAS Commission and consultant of note, while Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, a former Vice-Chancellor, Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, and currently of the University of Lagos will be the Special Guest of Honour.
Other activities lined up to commemorate the 10th anniversary include a church service and visit to an Orphanage.
The quarterly magazine has traversed the length and breadth of Africa as reflected in the 12 of its cover stories devoted to great African legends across the fields of human endeavour – politics, sports, monarchs, women activism, culture among others.
The Magazine has the former managing director of Daily Times, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi and Alhaji Idirisu as board members.
